Nando’s Mafikeng Mega City

Mafikeng is known for being pretty hot, but it just got a whole lot hotter with the opening of the new Nando’s Mafikeng Mega City. You cannot miss it, with its bold white “Village Pattern” on a dark charcoal backdrop fromNando’s Hot Young Designer, Bonolo Chepape, which adorns the exterior of the building.

In contrast, designer firm Tinlab implemented soft curves inside and around the building, which provides softness to the design. A large round feature window in the front façade creates an interesting element that offers views into the casa as you pass.

The rich steel and timber slatted screens to the front of the building add warmth and texture to the facade.

Bonolo Chepape’s bold pattern is also embraced through an oversized design element used as a striking backdrop, enhancing the casa’s perimeter back wall and ceiling. Extra-large colourful statement pendants above the dining area create a canopy that brings forth a warm, comfortable and inviting space under which you enjoy your meal.

Red & yellow were chosen as the accent colours, drawing attention to key design features and adding a vibrant pop throughout the space. These bold hues were complemented by rich tones of antique olive and Bordeaux in genuine leather, paired with solid, richly grained timber for a warm, grounded aesthetic.

A signature element in every Nando’s casa is the display of original artwork by local artists. Curated by the Spier Arts Trust for the Nando’s Collection, these works proudly adorn the walls of the casa, offering guests a moment of cultural appreciation with every visit.
